Missouri Nursing Home Abuse Law FirmSt. Louis Nursing Home Injury AttorneyOften, family members are the only ones who can take action when a family member is subjected to nursing home abuse or neglect. This is because the resident may be scared of making accusations or doesn't want you to worry about them. Whatever the reason, family members should always keep a look out for abuse or neglect. Some of the signs that abuse is taking place include the following:
What is the Missouri Omnibus Nursing Home Act?Chapter 198 of Missouri Revised statutes provides civil protections for residents of senior living facilities and nursing home facilities. Among many things, this law mandates the facility to keep written policies and procedures which relate to all areas of service and make them available to families or legal representatives; have policies relating to admission transfer and discharge; transfer the resident to a hospital, skilled nursing facility, or other appropriate facilities if care cannot be adequately provided by the facility; fully inform the resident of his or her rights and responsibilities as a resident; keep all residents free from mental and physical abuse; and to not require any resident to perform services for the facility. Of course there are many other requirements a nursing facility must meet in caring for its residents, but these are a few of the important protections provided by law.
